JOB TITLE : Warehouseman

EMPLOYER : Sherwood Lumber Corporation

DEPARTMENT : Operations

REPORTS TO : Operations Supervisor

SUMMARY : This position is responsible for operating forklift and maintaining production and distribution of product by receiving and / or pulling product from inventory stored within the warehouse; staging / loading finished goods for shipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Transports incoming and outgoing materials to designated areas utilizing appropriate tools / vehicles including forklift.
  • Prepares orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulls material; packs boxes; place orders in designated delivery area.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or bins according to organizational standards.
  • Maintains inventory controls by collecting stock location orders, recording quantity of product.
  • Checks in merchandise and performs quality inspections on incoming and outgoing products.
  • Prepares parcels (samples) for mailing.
  • Remains compliance with all safety procedures and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
  • Completes all job tasks in a timely fashion, prioritized to meet customer delivery expectations.
  • Maintains a clean, safe working environment by keeping isles, staging area and workstations neat; sweep, dust and mop; organize warehouse and work area for orderliness.
  • Assist in scheduled cycle & spot counts as needed.
  • Assist in coaching new hires during the on-boarding process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or GED, six months to one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certificates, licenses and registrations required :

    • Fork-Lift Certificate. (Certification provided)

  • Computer skills required : Time & Labor Management System; and Electronic Mail Software (Outlook).
  • Other skills required :

    • Solid Communication Skills (both verbal & written).

  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication).
  • Basic computer skills (Preferred).
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work closely with peers on team orientated goals.
  • Ability to follow company directives and instruction.

    • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Continually required to sit.
  • Frequently required to stand and / or walk.
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl.
  • Occasionally exposed to the following outside weather conditions : extreme heat and / or cold, wet and / or humid.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used : Fork-Lift.

    • 10 : 00am-6 : 30pm with potential 10 hour shifts.
