Job Title : Field Service – Off-Highway Equipment Technician

Location : Altoona Iowa

The Field Service Off-Highway Diesel Equipment Technician performs diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy diesel equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, haul trucks, and other off-highway machinery. The technician works in the field, traveling to customer sites to address equipment issues, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with safety and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities :

• Diagnose and Repair : Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on off-highway diesel equipment using diagnostic tools, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Perform Maintenance : Conduct routine preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections, to ensure equipment reliability.
• Field Service : Travel to customer sites or remote locations to perform repairs, maintenance, or emergency service on equipment.
• Component Replacement : Replace or repair faulty components such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps, or undercarriage systems.
• Welding and Fabrication : Perform minor welding, cutting, or fabrication tasks to repair or modify equipment as needed.
• Documentation : Complete service reports, document parts used, and record maintenance activities for warranty, billing, and inventory purposes.
• Customer Interaction : Communicate with customers to explain repairs, provide recommendations, and ensure satisfaction with service.
• Safety Compliance : Adhere to safety regulations, maintain a clean work environment, and follow manufacturer and company protocols.
• Tool and Equipment Management : Maintain and organize tools, service vehicles, and diagnostic equipment to ensure operational readiness.

Qualifications :

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and electronic controls.
