Global Safety Engineering Manager

We are looking for a manager for the Health and Safety (H&S) Engineering team who will be responsible for driving a strategic approach to delivering high-level engineering services for the AWS Safety team, strategic team leadership and development, setting and driving team vision and objectives, mentoring and growing safety engineer talent, managing team performance and career development.
The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated manager with a solid knowledge in safety engineering, and a proven track record of designing, deploying, and managing global safety engineering programs. They will have a history of building partnerships with diverse teams across multiple jurisdictions. The candidate must have the ability to define clear requirements in ambiguity, proactively educate team members, leaders, and other support teams, and communicate effectively and consistently throughout all levels of the business. The role will evolve with the maturity and growth of the program and requires a high degree of flexibility, including the ability to deep dive into time critical programs and projects, manage a team of safety engineers, and deliver continuous improvement actions.
The AWS Health and Safety (H&S) team is an expanding a dynamic team that is critical to enabling AWS's growth around the world, as well as ensuring compliance of AWS's global operations, including physical data centers, as well as other AWS facilities, customer-facing enterprises and products. The H&S team has responsibility for architecting and implementing AWS's global safety programs. This includes defining and implementing risk management and compliance systems and driving their continuous improvement; setting and refining global policies and procedures; overseeing the development of standards, tools, auditing and metrics, and employee training.

We are looking for an analytical and results-oriented person to work directly with members of the safety engineering team, Data Center Health and Safety (DCHS) teams, Data Center Operations (DCO), and the various AWS Engineering teams to focus on developing and implementing safety engineering solutions.
