About the Role

A well-established insurance and reinsurance organization is conducting a confidential search for an In House Counsel with a strong background in reinsurance compliance . This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative legal team and contribute to the strategic legal oversight of complex reinsurance operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel on reinsurance treaties , facultative placements , and retrocession agreements
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and international regulations governing reinsurance
  • Draft, review, and negotiate reinsurance contracts and related documentation
  • Advise internal stakeholders on regulatory filings , governance , and risk mitigation
  • Monitor developments in NAIC , Solvency II , and other regulatory frameworks

Qualifications

  • JD from an accredited law school; bar admission required
  • 3–7 years of legal experience, preferably in reinsurance , insurance law , or regulatory compliance
  • Prior in-house counsel or law firm experience with insurance / reinsurance clients
  • Strong understanding of ceded premiums , claims handling , and contract law
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
