This leadership position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the beverage program at Westwood Country Club, with the support of the Food & Beverage team. The Beverage Manager will work closely with the Assistant General Manager, Executive Chef, and F&B leadership team to develop a beverage program that reflects the Club’s tastes and enhances the member experience. This position plays an integral role in shaping and elevating the overall dining experience for Westwood members.
The Beverage Manager will have ownership of beverage purchasing, inventory control, staff education, and bar operations, with a focus on maintaining consistency, diversity in offerings, and an exceptional member experience — all while meeting the Club’s financial goals.
Responsibilities :
- Lead and inspire the beverage team while fostering an environment of professionalism, respect, and growth.
- Develop and maintain wine, beer, and spirits lists that align with the Club’s standards and member preferences.
- Oversee all aspects of beverage ordering, product selection, vendor management, and cost control.
- Assist the F&B team with floor management and addressing concerns or issues as they arise and providing an outstanding member dining experience.
- Manager and elevate the Club’s Wine Club and wine locker program.
- Hire, train and mentor bar service team.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors and distributors, cultivating mutual respect and success.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and F&B leadership to create cohesive food and beverage events.
- Conduct regular staff training to enhance product knowledge and elevate service standards.
- Monitor and manage beverage inventory levels to ensure availability and adherence to financial goals.
- Maintain product quality, consistency, and presentation across all outlets.
- Implement and maintain inventory systems for beverage tracking, transfers, and month-end reconciliation.
- Support special events and banquets with detailed beverage planning and execution.
- Ensure compliance with all ABC laws, Club policies, and safety regulations.
- Support the development of beverage-focused programming and events that engage members.
- Uphold the Westwood culture of respect, teamwork, and excellence.
Requirements :
Prior experience as a Beverage Manager, Sommelier, or Bar Manager in a high-volume or private club environment preferred, but not required.Candidates with a passion for the beverage and club industry, and with goals for professional growth, are encouraged to apply.Extensive knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and mixology — with a willingness to learn and expand expertise.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with a prompt and professional demeanor.Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as business demands.Ability to lift, pull, and push up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods.
