Summary : Under general supervision of the Drainage Utility Supervisor, this position performs skilled and semi-skilled work associated with the inspection, cleaning, general maintenance, and construction of the City's storm water drainage system. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
Essential Responsibilities :
Perform general maintenance and cleaning of storm sewer drainage systems.
Perform general construction within the storm water system.
Enters confined spaces, when necessary, to inspect piping systems, retrieve camera equipment, remove large debris, perform general maintenance to storm sewer drainage system, etc.
Complies with occupational safety rules and practices, and the application of standard work zone traffic control procedures.
Performs manual labor when necessary to assist in the performance of various tasks.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements :
Valid Texas Class C Driver's License required. High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers.
Ability to work in undesirable conditions and inclement weather.
Ability to work in confined spaces using recovery equipment and following safety procedures.
Ability to use and / or operate, and / or learn to use and operate storm sewer pipe cleaning / maintenance / repair methods and equipment, light and medium equipment and trucks, i.e., 12 yard dump truck, vactor / jetter truck, Skid steer, Backhoe, etc.
Ability to use hand tools, both power and manual.
Working knowledge of traffic control devices and their applications.
Ability to fill out daily paperwork to include job reports and vehicle inspections.

Work Environment :
The employee's work is conducted both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions and in a dynamic environment that requires the employee to be sensitive to change and responsive to changing goals, priorities, and needs. Some overtime may be required if weather conditions dictate after hours work.
