American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical unit, requiring EPIC experience and the ability to manage insulin and heparin drips.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit caring for adult and geriatric patientsShift consists of 12-hour nights, with both 36 and 48 hour workweeks acceptedPatient ratios are typically 1 : 6-7Expect to manage insulin drips, heparin drips, wound vac dressing changes, and high-flow oxygenOccasional need to care for patients requiring short-term BiPap respiratory supportUses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication managementFloating to similar units and alternate care locations within the hospital as neededCharge nurse duties are required on the night shiftAssigned to every other weekend and required to work major holidaysPossibility of caring for COVID patientsParticipation in the Inclement Weather Team and Storm / Hurricane Team is requiredProvide comprehensive nursing care to general Med / Surg adult and geriatric patientsDaily census is approximately 43 patientsUnit orientation is provided and lasts 24 hoursNavy scrubs are required for this positionNo more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) is allowed, excluding holidays, and no RTO may be taken during the first week of the contractCandidates must work at least 2 out of the 3 major holidaysPast employees of the health system must wait at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignmentsCompliance with inclement weather and mass casualty team protocols is mandatoryLocal candidates are accepted, and those living within 50 miles receive a local pay rate\n \n Requirements\n
Active NC or compact RN license required at time of start; pending license acceptable for considerationMinimum 2 years of Med / Surg nursing experienceBCLS certification requiredEPIC charting experience requiredMust be able to manage insulin and heparin dripsAbility to pass EKG testing prior to startFirst-time travelers are accepted for this unitReferences from two managers or supervisors within the last 12 months highly preferred at start\n Benefits\n
