Description :

Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week.

Registered Nurse in Medical Surgical-Neuro specialty.

Ratios : 1 : 4-5.

Charge experience is required.

First-timers accepted.

Weekend requirements : Every other weekend.

Certifications required : BLS, NIH, IV start.

No on-call requirements.

Clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs.

Open to accommodating block schedule : No.

Locals not accepted; home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility.

Pending licenses accepted.

RTO restrictions : No more than 7 days per 13 weeks.

Special Requirements :

General Med-Surg experience preferred.

Level I / Teaching experience preferred but not required.

Patient diagnoses include general neurological and neuromuscular disorders, MS, ALS, GBS, stroke, epilepsy, infections, and tumors.

Special procedures / unit details include lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, Foley catheter insertion, IV starts, G-tubes, and tracheostomies.

Special equipment includes bladder ultrasound.

Facility type : Short-term acute care teaching facility.

Total staffed beds : 1266.

Charting system : Epic.

Daily census : 24.

Number of beds in unit : 34.

Interdisciplinary support includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary.

Patient age groups : Adults.

Compliance deadline for submission : 3 PM CST on the Monday before the initial start date.

Fit testing required; travelers must have facial hair that allows proper testing or must shave.

Valid social security number is required at the time of submission.

References preferred at the time of submission.

Travelers will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals.

All travelers will float within the service line.

Copy of certifications not required at time of submission.

Specific charting system experience required.

No medical marijuana cards accepted.

Return staff policy : Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler.

All standard travelers can stay for an 18-month period.

They must take a 3-month break after 18 months.

Allied and non-clinical travelers can stay for a period of 12 months.

They must take a 6-month break in service after 12 months.

Profile to indicate if interested in a longer travel contract than 13 weeks.

Labs must be completed within 48-72 hours of signing.

Modules are required for RNs and LVNs.

Modules must be started within 1 week of signing and completed 2 Fridays prior to the start date to avoid starting delays.
