PCU Registered Nurse Job Details Location : Mechanicsville, VA 23116 (Greater Richmond area) Assignment Type : Travel Nursing Healthcare Setting : Cardiac Medical Stepdown Unit (CMSU) Start Date : November 17, 2025 End Date : February 14, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour nights; every other weekend and major holidays required Hours per Week : 36 Patient Ratio : 1 : 3-4 Scrub Colors : Navy blue, white, or combination Estimated Weekly Pay : $1880 - $2020 PCU RN Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (required) BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required) Must pass EKG Exam at orientation (study guide provided) Proficiency in lab draws and clinical support skills Minimum 1 year of RN experience (required) 6 months of acute care hospital experience (preferred) Experience with cardiac drips, titrations, BiPAP, and insulin drips Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work every other weekend and major holidays No local candidates (must reside outside a 50-mile radius) PCU Nurse Responsibilities Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments; develop individualized care plans Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately Monitor and manage patients with multi-system organ failure, cardiac, and advanced respiratory needs Utilize clinical equipment : Alaris pumps, BiPAP, PCA, GlucoStabilizer, bedside cardiac monitors, and patient lifts Coordinate patient care across hospital departments and interdisciplinary teams Advocate for patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives Educate patients and families, supporting them through illness and recovery Respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions and emergencies Apply now to join our healthcare team and take the next step in your travel nursing career in Mechanicsville, Virginia!
