About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Profession : Nursing

Hours per Shift : 12

Experience : Minimum of 2 years in NICU or 1 year with other RN experience

License : Active nursing license required

Certifications : BLS, NRP, STABLE

Must-Have :

  • Two years of NICU experience for travelers with exclusively NICU background.
  • One year of nursing experience for travelers with a mix of experiences.
  • Ability to titrate medications.
  • Experience with common neonatal conditions such as prematurity and respiratory distress.

Description :

The position is for a Registered Nurse in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

This unit houses 61 beds and has 24 rooms that accommodate up to 3 patients each.

The nurse to patient ratio ranges from 1 : 1 to 1 : 3.

Nurses are required to titrate drips, including morphine, dopamine, and epinephrine.

A Charge Nurse does not take assignments during each shift.

Nurse Aids or Patient Care Technicians are present on the unit.

Neonatologists and Nurse Practitioners are available 24 / 7.

Common equipment utilized includes Drager, Servo, and various respiratory support devices.

There are no tele / monitor techs on this unit.

Staff are scheduled for 12-hour shifts, with no self-scheduling.

Weekend and holiday work may be required based on the unit’s needs.

Floating may occur to pediatric or maternity units for qualified staff.

Dress code consists of hospital blue scrubs or personal scrubs.

A specific orientation process is provided for new hires.
