Engineering Equipment Operator (Fire)

These positions are located in the East Zone of Region 4 and will be filled under the Office of Personnel Management's Direct Hire Authority. They are open to all United States citizens and U.S. nationals. Veteran's preference and traditional rating and ranking of applications do not apply. Duties

These positions are located at Alligator Refuge - Manteo, NC; Pocosin Refuge - Columbia, NC; and Carolina Sandhills Refuge - McBee, SC.

As an Engineering Equipment Operator (Fire), your duties will include but are not limited to the following :

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
• Suitability for employment, as determined by background investigation.
• Drug Testing Position : Selectees will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to appointment.
• Medical Requirements : Must pass a pre-employment medical examination and may be subject to post-employment medical examinations.
• Driver's License : Must operate a government or private motor vehicle as part of official duties and hold a valid driver's license.
• Uniform : Official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform is required.
• Probationary Period : May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
• Individuals assigned male at birth after 12-31-59 must be registered for the Selective Service; verify at SSS.gov.
• Must obtain and maintain a Class A CDL within 6 months of EOD; work schedule may include evenings and weekends.
• Employment is limited to physically vigorous individuals meeting age and physical requirements.
• May be required to work evenings and / or weekends.
