About The Position

Unit : PCU

Unit Size : 16 beds (up to 20 with double occupancy)

Critical Care Service Line : All patients under Hospitalist care

Ratio : 1 : 3–4 depending on acuity

General Job Duties

Acute Care RN for patients undergoing :

Cardiovascular services

Surgical services

Procedures include arterial / venous sheath care, chronic vent management, peritoneal dialysis, chest tubes, epidural catheters, PCA pumps, transvenous pacing

Equipment & Technology

Philips Cardiac Monitors, Tele

Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitors

Invasive monitoring

Medtronic Pacemakers

Cerner EMR

Pyxis Med Dispenser

Zoll R Series

Sigma Spectrum IV pumps

Mistral Air Warming Units

Dress Code

Navy scrubs

Business-appropriate hair color

Unit Orientation & Training

Fast-paced cardiac and cardiac surgery care

Patients from cath lab (with or without intervention), post-op open-heart surgery (2–3 days)

STEMI and NSTEMI management

Chronic vents, alcohol withdrawal, suicidal ideation

New BiPAP / CPAP patients

Thoracotomies and renal disease

Job Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 1 year PCU experience

EKG interpretation and cardiac medication administration

Ability to manage chronic vents, arterial lines, sheath pulls, chest tubes, epidurals, PCA pumps, and transvenous pacing

Licensure & Certifications

ACLS / BLS required

Active and in good standing AZ RN license

Shifts & Scheduling

12-hour shifts : 7A–7P or 7P–7A

Minimum 3 shifts per week ; may allow 4 shifts per week at regular rates upon discussion

Floating : ICU preferred; MS / Tele required (including arterial lines, sheath pulls)

General Requirements

Prescreen + Auto Offer

Clinician must pass dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract.

Minimum passing score : 80%

Failure in two attempts = DNU for 6 months in CS AZ and Sacramento

Radius Rule : 50 miles

Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
