Job Title : Maintenance Technician
Reports to : Maintenance Supervisor
Location : Sardis, Mississippi
Salary : $22.00 - $32.00 per hour (non-exempt)
Position Overview
The Maintenance Technician supports safe and reliable plant operations by performing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on equipment, utilities, and facilities. This hands-on role ensures production uptime, minimizes unplanned downtime, and maintains compliance with safety and quality standards. The Maintenance Technician partners with production, engineering, and safety teams to troubleshoot equipment, perform repairs, and follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Responsibilities
- Perform daily maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and utilities systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance activities per established schedules to minimize equipment failures.
- Respond to unplanned downtime events, troubleshoot breakdowns, and implement timely repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, parts usage, and equipment history.
- Assist with equipment cataloging and tracking of common wear parts.
- Ensure proper use of equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and Engineering SOPs.
- Follow safe work practices at all times, including lockout / tagout, confined space, and PPE requirements.
- Identify and report safety hazards or risks; support corrective actions in alignment with OSHA 1910 standards.
- Partner with the Safety Manager and Maintenance Supervisor on inspections and training activities.
- Apply hands-on skills in welding, electrical systems, pumps, and mechanical repair.
- Preferred exposure to centrifuges, spray dryers, roll compaction, and milling equipment.
- Support small equipment upgrades, modifications, and improvement projects as directed.
- Work closely with Production and Engineering teams to prioritize maintenance activities.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors and operators regarding equipment status, downtime, and repairs.
- Provide feedback on opportunities to improve reliability, safety, or efficiency.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.2+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in chemical, agricultural, or industrial manufacturing.Practical knowledge of welding, electrical, hydraulics, and pumps; experience with centrifuges, dryers, mills, and compactors a plus.Strong troubleshooting ability and problem-solving mindset.Safety-conscious with knowledge of OSHA 1910 standards.Benefits
