Summary : Energy Transfer is seeking a SCADA Specialist to perform real-time SCADA system support and administration for a pipeline SCADA system. The role interacts with Pipeline Control to ensure safe and secure monitoring through SCADA HMI systems and works with field personnel on RTU / PLC integration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • System configuration and administration.
  • Databases and graphical displays for control center operations.
  • System interfaces, business data processes, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with field personnel, CRM, and control center on projects to bring points back into the SCADA system during field site integration.
  • Participate in line-out testing to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Configure, test, and troubleshoot data polling from the SCADA system to remote PLCs and RTUs.
  • Work with pipeline controllers to ensure the SCADA application provides safe operational capabilities.
  • Provide 24×7 support to the control center on a rotational basis.
  • Document changes, obtain required approvals, and submit change requests.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2–5 years of experience with SCADA systems.
  • CygNet SCADA experience is a plus; other automation, EFM collection, or SCADA system experience will be considered.
  • Gas and / or liquids pipeline experience preferred, with knowledge of measurement technologies, process control automation, device protocols, networking, and telecommunications.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical, and functional skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Experience working with the Windows operating system and server administration.
  • Ability to follow controlled procedures, adhere to database and display standards, and change-management procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle multiple concurrent projects to achieve results.
  • Team-player who can interact with all levels of management, engineering, systems, operations, and field personnel.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of real-time systems, particularly SCADA systems, PLCs, and RTUs.
  • Solid Microsoft skills with emphasis on advanced Excel. Proficiency in SQL, .NET, and Visual Studio is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of pipeline hydraulics.
  • Basic understanding of PLC and RTU communication protocols and TCP / IP communications.
  • CygNet SCADA application with remote site integration experience.
  • Familiarity with PHMSA Control Room Management (CRM) processes and guidelines.
  • Working Conditions

  • Usual normal office working conditions.
  • Must remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial / manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, extreme temperature conditions, and loud machinery; appropriate personal protective equipment will be required.
