Supervisory Responsibilities : Volunteer Engagement Specialists and Volunteer Associates
Status : Full-time Exempt
Qualifications : Must be 18 years of age or older. College degree and / or related experience in the field. Strong people skills including the ability to work with people of different backgrounds and levels of understanding. Good organizational, communication and planning skills. Availability to work days, evenings and weekends. Must possess a valid New York State driver's license and have the ability to obtain and maintain power equipment and food safety certifications. Prior experience operating power equipment in a warehouse setting preferred.
Physical Requirements : This position works in a typical warehouse setting and will be exposed to extreme temperatures and / or weather conditions. There will be extended periods of standing, bending, lifting, balancing, and handling materials. This position would normally have routine opportunities for the employee to be able to alter their physical position or change eye focus. This position will require the safe use of power equipment. Employee should have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
Position Summary : Responsible for coordinating, scheduling, supervising, and working with individual and group volunteers. Conducts community outreach and assists with recognition events. Works collaboratively with Manager of Volunteer Services.
Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Supervises, schedules, and works with volunteers to sort and re-pack food and non-food products in the warehouse.
2. Completes accurate paperwork for volunteer hours and products sorted.
3. Supervises, schedules and trains Volunteer Associates and Engagement Specialists; ensuring Food Bank best practices are maintained.
4. Fields inquiries and maintains regular communication with volunteers, Associates, and Specialists via email and telephone in a timely manner.
5. Schedules volunteers using the CERVIS system.
6. Coordinates volunteers for the office and assists with other projects as needed.
7. Assists with volunteer recognition events.
8. Contributes ideas and materials to the department and organization's newsletters as needed.
9. Works with volunteers and staff in other areas of the operation as needed.
10. Works with team to determine daily product flow and best practices.
11. Acts as a liaison between Regional Food Bank Volunteer Department and warehouse staff to ensure product flow and inventory accuracy. May include, but not exclusive to, receiving sheet data entry, printing, and applying receiving stickers.
12. Assists in the training, coaching, and development of Volunteer Associate and Volunteer Engagement Specialist positions.
13. Provides input for employee performance reviews, counseling, and terminations.
14. Maintains a clean and safe workspace.
15. Inspects power equipment prior to use.
16. Follows all safety standards and procedures.
17. Works independently and collaboratively with other departments and employees in support of the mission of the Food Bank.
18. Adheres to the Food Bank's Employee Code of Conduct.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
