This individual will coordinate the flow of patients through the block room and assist Anesthesia in block placement.\n\nEssential Duties : \n\nThis job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Associates may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.\n

- Assesses patient condition and initiates appropriate nursing and / or medical care in accordance with established guidelines and evidence-based practice.\n\n
- Develops and updates an individualized, plan of care based on the assessment of the patient in congruence with the medical diagnosis and treatment plan. Collaborates with patient and their available resources.

- Evaluates patient outcomes and response to care, revising plan as needed. Documents assessment, plan, all care given and patient response in the patient record.

- Prior experience with assistance in regional anesthesia block placement.
- Knowledge of local anesthetics, side effects, and emergency treatment.
- Clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills necessary to deliver quality patient care.
- ER or Critical Care experience. Preferred.\n\nEducation\n\n
- Current Michigan license as a Registered Nurse
- Associate degree in Nursing
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
- Bachelors degree in Nursing preferred\n\nSpecialized Knowledge and Skills\n\n
- Interpersonal skills for effective communication.
- Computer literate
- Telemetry
- 12 lead EKG. Preferred.
- Certification in CAPA / CPAP. Preferred.\n
