The Position
Duties & Responsibilities
Assembly of mechanical fixtures and hardware in support of research and development efforts using various power tools (i.e. drills, dremels, saws, mills)Fabrication or modification of prototype hardware using multiple processes such as machining, metal fabrication, woodworking, and 3d printing.Using adhesives, epoxies, painting, and other chemicals typically used in a workshop.Perform quality inspections of both incoming and outgoing mechanical and electrical assemblies using inspection equipment such as calipers and multimeters.Aid engineers in developing procedures for a variety of hi-tech projects.conducts tests and troubleshoots equipmentDocuments test procedures and results.Qualifications
Basic
Natural curiosity towards engineering technology and a drive to gain hands-on experience with hardware as well as all aspects of a project's lifecycleBasic mechanical aptitude (i.e., work on your own car, Involvement in NASA Student Launch or Centennial Challenges, Formula SAE).Strong attention to detail and workmanship.Follow established guidelines for safe material handling and protective gearAbility to work independently on a variety of different production tasks, and balance task priorities to meet deadlines.Experience in machining, metal fabrication, plastics molding, plastics fabrication, and rapid prototyping.Ability to look up, understand, and work from vendor hardware specifications, data sheets, or drawings.Ability to use Microsoft Office products.Ability to 3D CAD modelExperience with 3D printersBasic soldering skillsThe ability to obtain / maintain a final Secret DoD clearance, for which the US Government requires US CitizenshipThe Legal Stuff
