Professional development and growth opportunities

Qualifications and requirements : Under the supervision of an RN, performs telemetry monitoring. Reports to : Director of Intensive Care Unit

FLSA : Non-exempt

Education : High school diploma or equivalent Required; Associate's degree Preferred

Licenses : EMT, EMT-P, CNA, SRNA, or CMA Preferred or completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN).

Certifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) Required; Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire;Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry / Dysrhythmia course

Required Skills

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Essential Functions
  • Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
  • Identifies significant arrhythmias and / or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts. Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
  • Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
