Description :

The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in telemetry.

The unit has 20 beds with all private rooms.

The typical nurse-patient ratio is 1 : 5-6 for both day and night shifts.

There is a floating Charge Nurse who may cover multiple floors.

Nurse Aides (PCTs) are available, usually with 3 PCTs per floor when fully staffed.

Weekend work is part of the rotation, with holiday schedules based on unit needs.

Scrubs must be navy blue or white, with natural hair color and covered tattoos.

Telemetry monitors are Phillips Cardiac Monitors, with data flowing into the electronic medical record system.

Nurses are required to read and document monitor strips every 4 hours.

Common drips administered include Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Nitro.

There are no IV teams; however, respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7.

Pharmacy services are also provided 24 / 7 on the unit during the day.

Shifts begin at 7 PM and end at 7 : 30 AM.

Common diagnoses include elevated troponins, pre / post catheterizations, and active cardiac conditions.

Orientation specific to the floor will depend on experience.

Cancellations include 2 shifts per 13-week assignment.
