Salary : $19-$20 p / h DOE

Human Resources / FMLA Specialist

Reports To : HR Manager

Work Environment : Business Office

Travel : Less than 5%

Job Summary :

The Human Resources & FMLA Specialist supports the HR department and FMLA team by performing administrative tasks, customer service functions, and special projects. This role ensures efficient operations, maintains accurate records, and provides superior service to employees, clients, and participants through in-person, phone, and written communication.

Duties / Responsibilities :

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. This includes but is not limited to the following :

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR and FMLA files, records, and documentation.
  • Perform periodic audits to ensure required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Answer frequently asked questions from applicants, employees, and FMLA participants; escalate complex inquiries as needed.
  • Handle escalated leave of absence concerns from participants, employers, and agents.
  • Track intermittent and consecutive leaves using AbsenceSoft and Salesforce.
  • Make appropriate notations and complete assigned software tasks daily.
  • Assist with payroll functions, including processing and resolving errors.
  • Act as liaison with external benefits providers and vendors.
  • Conduct or assist with new hire orientation.
  • Support planning and execution of HR events (benefits enrollment, employee recognition, holiday parties, etc.).
  • Provide clerical support to the HR and FMLA teams.
  • Escalate client concerns to the FMLA Lead for review and resolution.
  • Use available resources to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Associates degree in a related field required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Two years of Human Resources with Leave management-related experience required; Customer Service experience preferred
  • Proficient experience with data entry, word processing, e-mail management, and file management
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Professional demeanor and image.
  • Education and Experience :

  • Associates degree in a related field required; Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Two years of Human Resource or Leave management experience preferred.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
