Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Outpatient Operating Room position requiring circulating and first scrubbing orthopedic procedures in an acute care setting, with a WV or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an acute care Outpatient Operating Room with 6 suites
  • Typical cases include orthopedic, podiatry, and minor plastic procedures
  • Average caseload of 12 cases per day
  • Must be able to circulate and first scrub on orthopedic procedures
  • May float to other surgical areas such as One Day Surgery or Main OR where competency is established
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Day shifts of 8 or 10 hours starting at 0615 or 0645, with potential late days until cases are finished
  • Rotational and weekend call required; 8-hour call shifts with a 30-minute response time
  • RNs may be required to float to other surgical specialties based on competency
  • Call coverage is rotational and includes holidays
  • No self-scheduling; staff collaborate to arrange call shifts
  • Work with a team including charge nurses and OR techs, with hospital nursing supervisor coverage 24 / 7
  • Returning travelers must have a 2-year break if previously employed at any WVU Medicine location
  • First-time travelers will be considered

  • Active WV or compact RN license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR RN experience
  • Must be able to first scrub and circulate orthopedic cases
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • No local travelers accepted within 50 miles of the facility
