The Prep Cook supports the culinary team by preparing ingredients, assisting with meal production, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen. This role ensures that residents receive nutritious, appealing, and high-quality meals while following food safety and sanitation standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, portioning meats, and measuring seasonings.
Assist cooks and chefs with meal preparation according to menus and resident dietary needs.
Follow recipes, portion sizes, and food presentation standards.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen, prep stations, and storage areas.
Properly label, date, and store food items in compliance with safety regulations.
Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables.
Assist with dishwashing and cleaning tasks as needed.
Ensure compliance with infection control, food handling, and sanitation guidelines.
Support the dietary team with special requests and resident needs.
Qualifications :
Previous kitchen or food preparation experience preferred (healthcare or hospitality a plus).
Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen safety.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
