Senior Environmental Scientist

Overview

Senior Environmental Scientist role at Terracon in Omaha, NE. Terracon wetlands practitioners serve as leaders on a variety of environmental studies, reports, and permits. The position focuses on identifying wetlands and other environmental planning constraints to help clients stay compliant with federal, state, and local regulations throughout the project lifecycle. Field work may be required, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Report safety issues or concerns to management and senior leadership.
• Maintain Terracon's established quality standards on all projects.
• Senior scientific professional responsible for quality control and assurance of data gathering procedures and data analysis.
• Serve as a project lead on wetlands delineation and permitting projects.
• Conduct pre-mobilization planning meetings with field staff to ensure safety and adherence to Terracon's rules and practices.
• Plan and staff field studies related to wetland and WOTUS delineation, and stream assessments.
• Conduct wetland and WOTUS delineations and prepare concise reports and permit applications.
• Analyze data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
• Draft scopes, schedules and budgets for medium to complex project proposals.
• Communicate clearly with Terracon leadership, staff and clients regarding technical and procedural issues.
• Assist with NEPA studies and reporting and conduct wildlife studies (such as habitat assessments) and permitting as needed.
• This role will require field work and may include overnight travel.
