Job Summary :
The Commercial Lines Account Manager is a critical role responsible for managing and growing a book of commercial insurance business. This individual acts as the primary liaison between clients, insurance carriers, and internal teams, ensuring clients receive comprehensive coverage, exceptional service, and ongoing risk management solutions. The Account Manager will be a proactive problem-solver, building strong relationships and identifying opportunities to expand and cross-sell coverage.
Key Responsibilities :
Client Relationship Management :
Serve as the primary point of contact for an assigned book of commercial clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships.
- Proactively communicate with clients to understand their business operations, risk exposures, and evolving insurance needs.
- Conduct regular client reviews to discuss policy performance, coverage adequacy, and recommend appropriate adjustments.
- Address client inquiries, resolve issues, and provide timely and accurate information regarding policies, claims, and billing.
- Manage client expectations and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
Policy Management and Renewal :
Manage the entire policy lifecycle, including new business, renewals, endorsements, and cancellations.
Gather necessary underwriting information from clients and prepare comprehensive applications for submission to carriers.Market new and renewal business to appropriate carriers, analyze quotes, and present competitive proposals to clients.Negotiate with company underwriters to secure optimal terms and pricing for clients.Review policies, binders, certificates of insurance, and other related documents for accuracy and compliance.Ensure timely processing and delivery of all policy documentation.Risk Management and Consultation :
Identify potential gaps in coverage and recommend appropriate solutions to mitigate client risks.
Educate clients on various commercial insurance products, coverages, exclusions, and industry trends.Assist clients with the claims process, acting as an advocate and liaison with carriers to ensure a smooth and efficient resolution.Explain audit procedures and review interim reports for coverage adequacy.Business Development and Sales Support :
Collaborate with producers (sales executives) on new and renewal business opportunities.
Identify opportunities for cross-selling and rounding out existing accounts with additional lines of business (e.g., workers' compensation, professional liability, commercial auto, property, general liability, umbrella).Support agency marketing activities and actively participate in business development initiatives.Administrative and Compliance :
Maintain accurate and detailed client records in the agency management system (e.g., AMS360, Epic).
Ensure all client interactions, policy changes, and communications are properly documented.Adhere to all industry regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.Process invoices and manage premium collections according to agency procedures.Qualifications :
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Minimum of [X] years of experience in commercial lines insurance account management (e.g., 3-5 years).Proven track record of successful client retention and relationship building.Licenses & Certifications :
Active Property & Casualty (P&C) Producer License is required.
