Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 6221)

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops a sales culture by creating individualized solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, providing a clean, organized environment, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions / concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
- Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / return transactions using POS system accurately; provide receipts and ensure top-notch guest service.
- Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
- Promote GameStop\u2019s guest benefits (new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards).
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
- Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; input written feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening / closing shifts; associates should know policies, inventory control and loss prevention practices, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; supervise staffing levels to maintain guest service standards.
- Approve payroll, enter leave requests, and verify compensation for time worked.
- Maintain store cleanliness and organization; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete required administrative duties.
- Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor.
- Balance and reconcile daily transactions; manage closeout paperwork and cash handling according to policy.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate issues to management.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists.
- Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per guidelines.
- Assist in maintaining store records; ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
- Adhere to opening and closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Job Skills and Abilities
