Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg night shift position requiring a WV or compact license and strong critical care skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a hospital-based Medical Surgical unit with critical care responsibilities
  • Night shifts of either 3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts per week (7 : 00 pm - 7 : 30 am), with every other weekend required
  • Patient ratio of 1 : 4-6
  • Required to float as needed
  • Open to blocked scheduling arrangements
  • Unit has an average daily patient census of 0.2 per provider
  • Uses CPSI EMR (no prior experience required)
  • No scrubs provided; wine and / or burgundy scrubs are required
  • Responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to a varied adult patient population, including critical care
  • Completion of facility modules is required prior to starting and will be monitored by compliance
  • Orientation is provided every other Thursday
  • Former permanent employees of the facility cannot return as travelers until 2 years after last employment date
  • Current employees of related health systems are not eligible for this travel contract
  • First-time travelers are eligible to apply
  • Holiday coverage may be required based on schedule and needs

  • Active WV or compact RN license (pending license accepted for consideration)
  • Minimum of 1 year current Med / Surg or critical care RN experience required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
  • Certification through American Heart Association required for BLS and ACLS
  • Proficiency with conscious sedation, telemetry, and ventilator management required
  • At least 2 professional references from manager or charge nurse roles within the past 2 years
  • Minimum of 2 years total RN experience required
  • Permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility (75-100 miles considered on a case-by-case basis)
  • No previous disciplinary action on nursing license, or will be considered case-by-case
