Major Duties / Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
Emergency Room :
Triage incoming patients based on level of injury or illness
Immediately stabilize incoming patients
Set broken bones, stitches, sutures, coordinate patient transfers
This position is primarily for weekend (63 hour) shifts available (2-4 weekends per month commitment).
Other shifts available for pickup.
General :
Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Order, perform, and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' condition. Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical history, reports, and examination results. Monitor patients' conditions and progress and reevaluate treatments as necessary.Explain procedures and discuss test results or prescribed treatments with patients.Advise patients and community members concerning diet, activity, hygiene, and disease prevention.Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners when necessary.
Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other health care providers.Plan, implement, or administer health programs or standards in hospitals, businesses, or communities for prevention or treatment of injury or illness
Directs, coordinates, or assists with swing-bed (patients, transfers, identification of candidates).
Rounds on swing-bed patients and other inpatients on the floor as needed
Assists clinic with Urgent care if needed
Job Qualifications :
Experience : ER Experience Required
Required Education : APRN, NP, or PA
Required Certifications / Registrations : Kansas License
Physical Requirements :
Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
Push / pull up to 45 lbs. occasionally.
Frequent standing, walking and sitting.
Fine motor coordination and manual dexterity.
Rarely reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling or crouching.
Working Conditions :
Office setting for administrative duties
Frequent standing, sitting, moving from one exam room to another
Exposure to unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases including risk of blood borne disease
Subject to varying and unpredictable situations.
May be expected to perform emergency care and handle crisis situations.
