Most importantly, we provide mentorship and growth. Maintains appropriate treatment and simulation records and data. Performs required quality assurance procedures and documents accordingly. Reviews all set-up instructions, radiation prescriptions, consents, treatment plan, and any other documentation related to treatment delivery. Visually monitors the patient during treatment. Maintains licensure, registration, and certifications as required. Works within the Practice Standards as defined by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Explains treatment process to the client in a clear and concise manner that promotes understanding when needed. Answers any questions that the client may have which is within the scope of practice of the radiation therapist. In charge of inventory and ordering of radiation supplies and equipment. Oversee radiation CT simulation and positioning for new patient set ups. Collaborate closely with radiation oncologist on all aspects of patient treatment. Assists licensed veterinary technician and veterinary assistants with patient preparation and recovery. Two years of clinical experience or graduate of a JRCERT-accredited program in radiation therapy or a suitable equivalent Certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy or ARRT Board exam eligible Eligible for licensing by the New York State Department of Health as a radiologic technologist. Dosimetry experience or willingness to learn dosimetry be responsible for registering imaging for treatment planning and contouring of normal structures Strong medical skills and knowledge. Patient / client-oriented. Excellent communication skills. Proficiency with computer platforms and applications for Varian Eclipse and Aria. (Training will be provided.) Experience with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and image guided radiotherapy (IGRT). Demonstrates enthusiasm and initiative to begin and complete tasks. Two years of clinical experience in Radiation Therapy or any related health science field Experience with Varian TrueBeam radiotherapy preferred Strong interest in veterinary medicine and knowledge of the field.
