Description :

The Mammography Technologist performs radiographic mammography procedures which produce high-quality diagnostic films for the detection of breast tissue abnormalities.

This position operates without constant supervision and performs a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, creativity, and initiative.

Ensures proper patient identification and order verification while preparing the patient for the exam.

Performs radiologic mammography exams per departmental protocol, including advanced procedures like stereotactic biopsies, clip placements, and drainages.

Operates mammographic equipment to ensure the production of high-quality diagnostic images.

Appropriately uses equipment, maneuvers the unit, and selects techniques to produce diagnostic images.

Utilizes radiation protection measures to ensure the safety of patients and staff while meeting all ALARA program requirements.

Keeps current on new procedures and equipment to maintain high skill levels.

Maintains records required by regulatory bodies and thoroughly completes all required documentation, including time stamps and image storage.
