SUMMARY : Responsible for manually and / or driving forklift equipment to move freight, stock, or other materials and / or perform other warehouse responsibilities including verifying product parts, numbers, sorting product, packing product and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Attach identifying tags to containers, or mark them with identifying information for all inventory, transfers and returns.
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments and material and equipment needs.
• Record numbers of units handled and moved, using daily production sheets or work tickets.
• Move freight, stock, and other materials to and from storage and production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, and containers, by hand or using trucks, tractors, and other equipment.
• Pick customer orders in preparation for shipment.
• Verify and keep records on incoming / outgoing shipments; prepare items for shipment, including assembling, addressing, stamping, shipping merchandise or material; receiving, unpacking, arranging for transportation of products.
• Sort cargo before loading and unloading.
• Pack containers and re-pack damaged containers.
• Inventory control and bin replenishment.
• Maintain equipment storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected.

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : High School / GED; 1-3 years work experience; preferably in a warehouse / distribution / manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS :

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to occasionally sit; the employee may frequently climb or balance; is required to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; is subject occasionally to outdoor weather conditions; may frequently work near moving mechanical parts; and may be exposed to humid conditions.
