Overview
We are seeking an experienced Production Team Lead to oversee and support a team of hourly employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who can build strong, motivated teams, ensure operational efficiency, and maintain a safety-first culture. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in production leadership, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to train and mentor others.
This position is on-site in Charlotte, NC.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support a team of production operators.
Build confidence in operating a single production line, expanding to multiple lines and shifts over time.Partner with HR to recruit, onboard, and train new team members on job functions, safety, culture, and troubleshooting.Foster a positive and safety-focused work environment.Production ExecutionDrive the team to meet production schedules and deadlines.
Monitor direct labor costs and support efficient resource use.Coordinate with Inventory and Production Planning to ensure materials and work orders are ready.Ensure accurate completion of production forms and records.Troubleshoot equipment issues and collaborate with maintenance teams.Report spare parts and consumables needs for reordering.Assist in reconciling materials post-production for accurate inventory tracking.Reporting & CommunicationDocument production events and incidents with accuracy and clarity.
Prepare daily summaries on production output, quality concerns, and equipment performance.Communicate insights and recommendations to management and clients.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities for improvement and cost savings.
Apply 5S, Lean, and other best practices to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.Promote and follow all safety and environmental procedures.Qualifications
5+ years of relevant production or manufacturing experience.Experience using hand tools and mechanical troubleshooting.Strong English communication skills (verbal and written).Ability to train, coach, and mentor operators.Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.Preferred Skills & Experience
Spanish language proficiency.Background in tobacco, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing industries.Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.Employment details
