Principal Applications Engineer : Powering the Future of Energy
Our bleeding edge client is hiring a Principal Applications Engineer to be the primary technical interface for our groundbreaking advanced power module solutions.
Are you a sales-minded engineer with deep roots in solar, battery storage, or distributed energy? Do you thrive on translating complex customer needs into winning technical designs? We're looking for a leader ready to own the pre-sales technical engagement for stationary and mobile power generation applications in markets like EV charging, data centers, and microgrids.
This is a senior role for an engineer with a strong balance of electrical and mechanical design expertise and a passion for clean energy commercialization.
What You'll Do
- Lead Pre-Sales Design : Own the technical discovery process, defining system configuration, and ensuring seamless integration of our advanced power module and all balance-of-plant subsystems (thermal, electrical, controls).
- Develop Winning Proposals : Create detailed techno-commercial proposals, including electrical load assessments, fuel compatibility evaluations, and preliminary layouts to respond to complex RFPs / RFQs.
- Customer Engagement : Lead high-stakes client presentations, communicating complex technical concepts to diverse engineering and stakeholder teams.
- Product Voice : Serve as the technical voice of the customer, collaborating with internal product engineering to inform the future product roadmap and custom configurations for our power platform.
- Compliance & Standards : Ensure all designs comply with industry standards (NFPA, IEEE, UL, NEMA, NEC) and emissions / permitting requirements.
What You'll Bring
Experience : 7+ years in Applications Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or Technical Sales within the power generation, microgrid, or distributed energy sectors.Education : Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.Mandatory Industry Background : Direct experience from the solar, battery storage, or distributed energy industries is a must-have.Technical Depth : Strong understanding of power conversion systems (inverters, switchgear, grid interconnection) and controls integration (Modbus, SCADA is a plus).Business Acumen : A proven track record as a sales-minded engineer—an engineer who understands and drives commercial outcomes.Soft Skills : Exceptional communication, collaboration, and adaptability to manage multiple customer opportunities and deliver under tight timelines.Travel : Ability to travel approximately 25% for customer site visits, project handoffs, and industry events.Why Join Us
