Newberry Tanks & Equipment is a leading steel tank fabricator serving the oil jobber, agriculture, industrial, and equipment contractors nationwide. We manufacture steel petroleum storage tanks, bulk oil dispensing tanks and distribute accessory equipment. The company was founded in 1927 in Memphis, Tennessee. We are looking for an experienced Lead for our Memphis Distribution Center.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES :
The Distribution Center Lead is responsible for overseeing daily warehouse operations including picking, staging, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and installation preparation for Roth fiberglass tank systems. This role provides hands-on leadership to warehouse employees and ensures safe, accurate, and efficient operations while meeting production schedules and customer delivery requirements. The Lead works closely with Logistics, Production, and Shipping departments to coordinate workflow, enforce procedures, and maintain high standards of safety and quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead daily warehouse operations including order picking, staging, loading, receiving, and put-away.
- Coordinate material flow for Roth fiberglass tanks, fittings, components, and installation kits.
- Ensure accurate fulfillment using Sage 100 pick tickets and shipment paperwork.
- Verify incoming freight accuracy; inspect for damage and confirm purchase orders.
- Assist with outbound freight documentation including bills of lading and packing slips.
- Prepare installations by staging tanks and accessory components for delivery crews.
- Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and pallet jacks to move tanks and materials.
- Load flatbeds and trailers using correct load securement methods.
- Maintain FIFO inventory flow and enforce warehouse organization standards.
- Train warehouse team members on procedures and correct material handling.
- Conduct daily safety checks, forklift inspections, and enforce PPE compliance.
- Identify process improvements and support lean warehouse practices.
- Assist with cycle counts and root cause investigation of inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain clean and organized workspace according to 5S standards.
- Communicate daily priorities and work assignments to warehouse personnel.
- Perform other warehouse-related duties as assigned by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience :
Minimum HS diploma / GED requiredFive years' experience in a warehouse environment with at least one year in a leadership or supervisory positionComputer proficiency including Microsoft Office applicationsSage 100 or other ERP systems experience is a plusSpecial Requirements :
