Test Engineer duties involve the testing, troubleshooting and repair of all airborne and ground electronics systems, major assemblies, subassemblies, chassis and components that are associated with the aerostat electronics. Use of general purpose and special purpose electrical / electronic tool and test equipment is required. Must be able to perform all duties of a lower classified technician. This position is for the Electronics Manufacturing department.

Responsibilities

  • Interacting With Computers — Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to program, write software, set up functions, enter data, or process information.

Maintain databases

  • Use computers to enter, access or retrieve data
  • Use spreadsheet software, word processing and / or desktop publishing software
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Resolve engineering problems

  • Use intuitive judgment for engineering analyses
  • Getting Information — Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.
  • Collect scientific or technical data

  • Read schematics and wire lists
  • Read technical drawings
  • Read manufacturing outlines for electronic products
  • Analyzing Data or Information — Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Analyze engineering design problems, engineering test data, scientific research data or investigative findings, technical data, designs, or preliminary specifications, manufacturing or processing systems

  • Provide analytical assessment of engineering data
  • Updating and Using Relevant Knowledge — Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
  • Follow manufacturing methods or techniques

  • Follow statistical process control procedures
  • Use hazardous material information
  • Use knowledge of investigation techniques
  • Use knowledge of laser technology
  • Use library or online Internet research techniques
  • Use long or short term production planning techniques
  • Use mathematical or statistical methods to identify or analyze problems
  • Use project management techniques
  • Use quality assurance techniques
  • Use quantitative research methods
  • Use scientific research methodology
  • Use technical information in manufacturing or industrial activities
  • Use technical regulations for engineering problems
  • Think Creatively — Developing, designing or creating new applications, ideas, relationships or systems.
  • Create statistical diagrams or charts

  • Design control systems or test fixtures
  • Design electro-mechanical equipment
  • Design manufacturing processes or methods
  • Improve test devices or techniques in manufacturing, industrial or engineering setting
  • Help create, modify and / or change engineering drawings, schematics, wire lists, and specifications
  • Write product failure analysis and performance reports
  • Qualify, test, troubleshoot and repair the entire electronic / electrical system during integration and installation
  • Prepare and submit written reports for completed system tests and failure analysis of equipment returned from the field
  • Perform Other Duties And Responsibilities As Assigned.
  • Education and Experience

    Education Requirement : Bachelor's degree in a related Engineering field, or the equivalent amount of education and experience.

    Experience Requirement : Three to five years of electronics technician experience.
