Duty Station- Olympia, Washington – Thurston County
Hybrid / Telework- While this position offers a hybrid work arrangement, the successful candidate must be available to report to the Olympia, WA headquarters as needed. The selected candidate may be able to telework / work remotely up to 4 days per week at the discretion of the supervisor.
Lead the creation of high-priority graphics and publications, translating complex policy, scientific, and regulatory information into clear and engaging visual communications.
As one of two Department graphic designers, you’ll support design across print and digital platforms to enhance public understanding, promote safety, and elevate the visibility of agency initiatives.

Working Conditions :
Work Setting, including hazards : Primarily a home office or office setting with some days spend in the field under line staff guidance. Office hazards include working under fluorescent light, repetitively entering data into computer, looking at computer monitor for long periods of time, sitting or standing for long periods of time. May be able to telework / work remotely up to 4 days per week at the discretion of the supervisor.
Schedule : Typically, Monday – Friday, 8 : 00 A.M. – 5 : 00 P.M. Occasional after-hours work as needed to complete tasks.
Tools and Equipment : Adobe design software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Rush and Adobe Pro), Microsoft Office, ArcGIS.
Customer Interactions : The ability to work collaboratively, establishing and maintaining cooperative internal working relationships and demonstrating effective interpersonal skills.
Qualifications :
Required Qualifications :
Option 1 : Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual / fine arts, communications, and two (2) years professional experience in graphic design, visual communications, or fine arts.
Option 2 : Associate’s degree in graphic design, visual / fine arts, communications, and four (4) years of professional experience in graphic design, visual communications, or fine arts.
Option 3 : Six (6) or more years of professional experience in graphic design, communications, visual communications, or fine art background.
In addition to the requirement options above, the incumbent must have experience in / with the following :
