Must-Have :

Must have charge experience.

Labor and delivery experience is required.

Ability to labor and recover the mother, as well as receive and transition the newborn, including assessment.

Description :

The unit consists of 9 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) beds, 1 obstetric emergency department (OBED) bed, and a 4-bed NICU.

The unit has 1 operating room suite.

Patient ratios are 1 : 1 for active labors, inductions, and C-sections.

Couplet care is 1 : 3.

Newborns are 1 : 1 until stable, and NICU is 1 : 3 for intermediate care.

Two NICU nurses must be present in the unit if there are patients.

The unit does not have techs or unit secretaries.

Equipment includes central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, a tele-med robot for neonatologist consultations, bili-blankets, and PCA pumps.

Documentation is done using Meditech and central monitoring systems.

FT staff are required to work 3 shifts per week, with rotating weekends and holidays.

Regular staff may float to other areas within the facility as needed.

Daily rounding on all patients is required, as well as safety rounding.

Candidates must have experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other potential obstetric emergencies preferred.

Advanced skills needed include fetal monitoring education and experience with inductions using Pitocin and Cervidil.

Procedures performed in the unit include C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, and vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries.

The unit comprises seasoned RNs with approximately 30 years of experience each, providing excellent resources and preceptorship.

Many staff members have 7-10 years of experience and are competent in their roles.

The team works collaboratively to support each other, making it a great environment for learning and gaining experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care.
