Job Function
Responsible for supervising the daily operation of the Trolley Maintenance Department. Coordinate and manage the daily functions within the department. Accountable for inspecting repairs and maintenance of equipment and coordinate service for repairs and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides direction for the daily operations of Trolley Maintenance Department; manage and organize necessary activities, programs and objectives to meet and evaluate department goals.
- Assists with establishing and implementing procedures and work methods for the department and employees and continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures.
- Implements the Trolley Maintenance Department programs; such as Trolley Rehabilitation, Preventative Maintenance programs, etc.
- Evaluates departmental personnel through job performance evaluations. Works with employees to correct deficiencies and administer disciplinary action when warranted.
- Provides leadership and supervision to subordinates.
- Analyzes daily and monthly reports and implements corrective actions, as appropriate.
- Conduct building inspections for Trolley infrastructure in accordance with maintenance programs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Review work plans for employees and meet with staff to identify and resolve problems and assign work when necessary.Inspect the MATA facility and equipment and plan for future repairs and upkeep for equipment, buildings and grounds on a periodic basis.Prepare monthly maintenance reports and maintain records.Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of grounds and facilities at MATA's downtown and midtown facilities and grounds. Also, responsible for the security of those grounds and facilities.Assists with the daily operations for MATA's security program.Assume additional responsibilities as required.Minimum Qualifications
Education
High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Overall experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.
Other Requirements
Minimum 8 years progressively responsible experience in Maintenance administration, including a minimum of 3 years management responsibility in a related area.Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations relating to fleet management.Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of fleet management.Must possess effective oral and written skills and be experienced in labor / union matters.Must possess strong organizational and analytical skills, including familiarity with relevant software.Must be proficient with personal computer and related software.Must possess a valid driver's license.Requires ability to handle numerous activities at one time.May be required to demonstrate techniques or provide instruction on proper maintenance techniques.Must understand and interpret collective bargaining agreement and work collaboratively in a union environment.Environment
Extensive standing and walking are required; however, there are some periods of sitting in the course of a normal workday. Requires flexibility of fingers for data entry. Requires ability to withstand exposure to weather conditions, dust, engine fumes, and extreme noise levels. May be required to lift, push or pull 50 lbs. Requires ability to hear telephone and directions given; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance. Ability to view visual display terminal for extended periods of time.
