  • Accounting Departments Mission :

    The companys accounting department mission is to help management better understand the overall financial health of the business and provide timely data and information to drive strategic decisions. This involves employing competent and diligent business professionals who are innovative, resourceful, collaborative, and helpful in facilitating the management and accountability of the organization's resources.

    Key elements of the mission include :

    • Accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis - The accounting department is responsible for providing accurate financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and other reports to help management and other stakeholders understand the company's financial health and make informed decisions.
    • Managing cash flow and financial transactions - This includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and other cash inflows and outflows. The department ensures proper recording, controls, and optimization of cash management.
    • Maintaining financial controls and compliance - The accounting department is responsible for implementing internal controls, following accounting principles and standards, and ensuring the company remains compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
    • Supporting strategic decision-making - By providing high-quality financial data and analysis, the accounting department helps management make better-informed decisions about the company's operations, investments, and overall direction.
    • Safeguarding company assets - The accounting department plays a key role in protecting the organization's resources through measures like reconciliations, segregation of duties, and fraud prevention.
    • Continuous process improvement - Accounting departments should strive to innovate, leverage technology, and enhance their processes to increase efficiency and add more value to the business.
    • In summary, the key responsibility of the companys accounting department is to provide accurate, timely, and insightful financial information and guidance to support the overall success and strategic decision-making of the organization

      Duties :

    • Will oversee all general accounting, financial accounting, and financial reporting activities.
    • Responsible for all management reporting.
    • Oversee the treasury and cash management function.
    • Oversee annual budget preparation.
    • Responsible for all accounting systems, processes, and controls.
    • Act as a liaison for the outsourced tax planning, preparation, and compliance.
    • Oversee preparation of the companys annual review by the outside CPA firm.
    • Work closely with the executive and operations leadership to support efforts to organically grow the organization in an efficient and effective manner.
    • Qualifications / Experience / Attributes :

    • Must have accounting and finance technical proficiency with a strong attention to detail.
    • Must have accounting experience preferably in the construction industry with specific experience in project cost accounting and reporting.
    • Must have experience developing, implementing, and managing accounting functions using a documented work process.
    • Must have a strong business acumen and a fiduciary mindset.
    • Must have excellent communication skills and a superior ability to lead others and develop relationships.
    • Experience with CAPEX assessment and analysis in support of the companys organic growth strategies.
    • Experience with the Foundation suite of accounting software (companys accounting software) or similar financial accounting software.
    • Responsibilities :

    • Supervise Accounting Staff, currently at 2-1 / 2 full time equivalent persons.
    • Manage payroll collection and disbursement.
    • Manage AR function including timely and accurate preparation of detailed progress-based pay applications for construction contracts.
    • Manage AP function.
    • Manage project reporting function, including monitoring project costs relative to budget.
    • Maintain work in progress reports for revenue recognition purposes.
    • Insure timely and accurate tax filings (Federal, State, Sales / Use, Franchise, Other)
    • Conduct timely monthly close and publishing of management financial reports, including analysis comparing actual to forecast.
    • Provide timely and accurate cash forecasting.
    • Assist with operations requests as needed.
