The Senior Accounting Analyst operations and financial accounting related activities with the primary objective of producing timely, accurate, reliable, and relevant financial information effectively and efficiently. The Senior Accounting Analyst is the finance support partner to our Financial Controller in the ‘doing’. This role plays a critical part in supporting the strategic decision-making process by providing accurate financial information, conducting analysis and collaborating with operations on the preparation and analysis of cost records and reports, the end of month close functions and preparation of statutory accounts.

Key Objectives

  • Financial Reporting

Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, IFRS and U.S. GAAP and the coordination of internal and external audits.

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and taxes
  • Preparation of project and ancillary reporting and analytics.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Monitoring actual financial performance against budgeted figures and providing analysis on variances.

  • Internal Controls & Compliance
  • Maintaining internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Cash Flow Management
  • Updating daily & weekly cash positions

  • Financial Analysis
  • Conducting financial analysis to provide insights into the company's and project performance, profitability, and financial health.

  • Management Accounting :
  • Providing financial information and analysis to support strategic decision-making by the executive team.

  • Fixed assets accounting (acquiring, depreciating, disposal, ROU assets)
  • Cost / Project Accounting and analysis
  • Transactional Accounting
  • Key support member for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll

  • Proficiency in compound general ledger journal preparation & entry including currency translation.
  • Intercompany reconciliation with head office
  • Contribute as a valued team member and demonstrate commitment to common goals and targets of the business
  • Collaborating with other departments to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial processes.
  • Education, Qualifications, Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Senior Accountant or Analyst.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial software (ERP’s such as Pronto, SAP, MS Great Plains, etc.)
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a small team and cross-functional environment, in a high-growth, public company, a plus.
  • Foreign Currency exposure
  • Experience with Blackline (for balance sheet recons), a plus
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to see and comprehend the written word with or without accommodation

  • Ability to decipher different colours on a computer screen
  • Standing or sitting for 8 hours or more per day (based on preference)
  • Walking, kneeling crouching, bending, and reaching on an infrequent basis
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers used to key entries on a keyboard, use the telephone and operation of a computer mouse
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing and / or pulling of items less than twenty-five pounds on an infrequent basis
