Structural Engineer

Job Summary

The Structural Engineer position is a licensed engineer with a minimum of 10 years of experience leading and working with others to successfully complete projects in a wide variety of markets, including commercial development. This position is full-time, with benefits, and salary will be commensurate with experience and skill set. This individual will perform engineering duties in planning and design; provide technical, engineering expertise; and play a lead role in the successful execution of projects. This position includes business development responsibilities like lead generation, relationship building and client presentations to win new work. The role also includes writing technical proposals, providing estimates for scope of work, and project management. Our team works on a vast array of project types, and this role requires a highly adaptable and responsive individual, who is open to change and comfortable with considerable variety in the workplace. A professional structural engineering license (SE) is required. This candidate must be local to the Twin Cities metro area and available for client site project meetings, as requested. This position is a hybrid position with work from home opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage the coordination and overall integration of technical activities in structural engineering projects from conceptual stage through design and construction for numerous and varied facilities.
• Perform business development activities, including technical writing for proposals and identification of new opportunities.
• Prepare design documents for structural systems, including technical drawings, calculations, and specifications.
• Direct, review, or approve project design changes.
• Present and explain proposals, reports, or findings to clients.
• Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications. Provide estimates for scopes of work.
• Serve as project manager and / or lead structural design engineer, and manage project budgets.
• Estimate construction costs.
• Perform construction administration / observation duties.
• Perform quality control / quality management duties.
• Manage subcontractor budgets, relationships, and performance.
• Aid in the preparation of design packages using drafting equipment and software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
