Jefferson County is accepting applications for an experienced Fleet Mechanic responsible for servicing vehicles and equipment operated by Public Works, Sheriff, and other county departments. The Fleet Mechanic is based at the county shop located in Port Hadlock, WA but may also service equipment in the field, at the solid waste transfer station, or other locations in Jefferson County. All tools, trucks, uniforms, and other equipment are provided by the County.
Minimum qualifications : The ideal candidate for the Fleet Mechanic position would have proven experience maintaining heavy equipment and diesel trucks, as well as automotive experience. Jefferson County encourages mechanics of all levels of experience to apply. Placement into the Mechanic II or Mechanic III band will depend upon experience and qualifications.
Mechanic III : High school diploma or GED and seven (7) years of experience including auto, heavy equipment and / or truck, and / or welding and fabrication; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade A7-C; Starting pay : $31.65 / hr. to $37.82 / hr. depending on qualifications.
Mechanic II : High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of experience including auto, heavy equipment and / or truck; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Grade A7-B; Starting pay : $29.28 / hr. to $35.00 / hr. depending on qualifications.
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week Teamsters Union position with full medical benefits including dental and vision; Personal Time Off (PTO) accumulated based on hours worked up to a maximum of 21 days in the first year of employment, 12 paid holidays, bereavement leave, and retirement provided through Washington State DRS.
