Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in a Level I trauma and teaching hospital, requiring strong telemetry and dysrhythmia management skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a PACU setting within a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Primary patient flow is pre-op, with coverage starting at 7 : 00 am, Monday through Friday
  • Patient population includes neuro, ortho, GI, GYN, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, vascular, urology, ortho spine, and general surgery cases
  • Nurse to patient ratio is 2 : 1
  • Special procedures include anesthesia-assisted procedures, moderate sedation, and electroconvulsive therapy
  • Required to use Epic EMR system
  • No weekend or on-call requirements
  • No floating outside of unit responsibilities
  • Role centers on pre-operative care and stabilization of diverse surgical patients in a fast-paced trauma care environment
  • Experience in academic teaching and trauma hospital settings is preferred
  • Orientation week is fixed; no RTO permitted during this period and personal leave should be kept to a minimum
  • Return staff must have a separation of at least 18 months before being eligible to return as travelers
  • First-time travelers are generally not considered unless exceptional experience is demonstrated
  • Scrub attire may be any solid color; unit provides light blue or OR scrubs as needed
  • Daytime offsite parking with shuttle is available for a fee
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as travelers

  • Active WA or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PACU experience required
  • Must have completed at least 2 previous travel assignments beyond initial hospital
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; PALS preferred
  • Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation and management required
  • Skills required include ventilator management, IV starts, and conscious sedation
  • COVID vaccination and booster are required
