Executive Director-Construction Technology & Administrative Systems

Primary Objective

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor-Administrative Services, the Executive Director-Construction Technology & Administrative Systems is responsible for leading the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of technology and security infrastructure for all new construction and renovation projects for CCC. This position ensures that all construction efforts align with CCC standards for wiring and cabling, while also recommending and initiating capital investment opportunities in IT and security systems. The Executive Director regularly collaborates with external architects and engineers to guide the implementation of audio-visual and security systems in new and remodeled spaces. As the primary liaison between the Office of Administrative Services (OAS) and the Office of Information Technology (OIT), the this position facilitates seamless integration of technology into facility designs and ensures alignment with CCC standards. Additionally, the Executive Director oversees the management and implementation of all technology platforms used within OAS, including those supporting security and inventory operations. Performs related duties as required.

Essential Duties

  • Leads the planning and definition of technology infrastructure requirements, including port locations, wiring standards, and audio-visual configurations to support new facility construction and renovations in coordination with all relevant stakeholders, including the Office of Information Technology (OIT).
  • Partners with OIT to identify and implement best practices related to technology integration in capital construction projects for physical learning and administrative spaces.
  • Implements infrastructure standards as developed by the OIT to support all construction projects.
  • Leads projects related to installation and maintenance of specialized security equipment (e.g., CCTV, access control, PA systems, etc.), networks, and related software systems.
  • Review all construction plans for compliance with CCC wiring and classroom standards.
  • Consults with and advises external architects on IT standards for all construction and security projects.
  • Collaborates with management to determine user requirements, define project scopes, and assess system capacity and equipment acquisitions.
  • Manages all technology-related systems utilized by the OAS, such as security management, inventory control, and room reservation systems.
  • Coordinates with Procurement Services to obtain approvals for relevant audio-visual and security purchases and services.
  • Oversees the work and services of external vendors providing technology and security equipment involved in CCC construction and security projects.
  • Supervises District Office shipping and receiving staff and ensures proper use of inventory management systems and procedures.
  • Prepares regular project management reports to inform leadership of project status updates and any deviation from project goals and timelines.
  • Adheres to CCC Customer Services Excellence standards.
  • Performs related duties as required.

Direct Supervision Building Services Supervisor, Building Services Clerks, Outside IT and Security Contractors

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Construction Management, or a related field

Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in technology infrastructure, project management, facilities planning, or another relevant field

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of management

Ability to work effectively with local government agencies, businesses, and employees at all levels of the organization.

Proven experience conducting IT infrastructure assessments and overseeing hardware and software deployment, preferable in construction or renovation contexts.

Strong knowledge of specialized security equipment, including their network infrastructure and software requirements

Ability to prioritize and manage short- and long- term construction and repair projects simultaneously, developing the scope of work and resources necessary to execute the project.

Progressively responsible experience in all facets of project management, with a strong record of delivering projects on time and within scope.

Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse environment.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)

Salary Range $115,542 - $150,000

Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
