Sr Marine Risk Engineering Consultant
Remote (work from home) role within the United States with up to 20% travel nationwide. Location : AM – Remote Work (US).
Zurich's Marine Risk Engineering team seeks a Senior Risk Engineering Consultant with Marine Risk Engineering experience to support Zurich Resilience Solutions.
This role provides risk assessment and risk improvement services for customers and business partners across lines of business. The successful candidate will act as an expert with enhanced knowledge of the marine line of business.
Responsibilities
- Assess the quality of complex risks as described in the appropriate standard(s) and related competency level; assess loss potentials per defined definitions.
- Support external customers by identifying and reducing risks, both on an individual and account basis.
- Provide risk improvement advice, conduct loss investigations (trend and root cause analysis), and implement risk improvement programs.
- Share technical expertise with colleagues, partners and customers through training or participation in a Centre of Expertise or industry segment.
- Produce work that complies with Company standards, in terms of technical quality of policies and procedures.
- Anticipate, recognize and respond to customer needs by providing expert solutions and training to key customers; contribute to Business Operation Profit through opportunity spotting and cross-selling.
- Develop and maintain positive customer and business partner relationships and collaborate to develop appropriate service plans.
- Resolve technical issues and projects in reference to policies and procedures within a specific function or unit.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors Degree and 6+ years of Marine Risk Engineering experience ORHigh School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of Marine Risk Engineering experience ORZurich Certified Apprentice, including an Associates degree and 6+ years of Marine Risk Engineering experience ANDExperience working in a team environmentPreferred Qualifications
8+ years in marine risk engineering and / or prior risk engineering role within an insurance environmentKnowledge of industry standards related to maritime transit safety and security (IMO, TAPA, etc.)Knowledge of risk across multiple transportation modes (rail, truck, vessel, aircraft, barge, etc.)Ability to carry out warehouse and logistics reviews when requiredAbility to assess risk across multiple cargo commodity classes and articulate a risk quality review to support Marine Underwriting and business partnersStrong communication skills and ability to participate in client / broker meetingsAbility to work independently without close supervisionAbility to manage third-party surveyors for global loss control activity and review reports for content and qualityHigh proficiency with computer systems and related softwareAdditional Information
