About The Position

• PCU / IMC experience within the last 3 years
• Experience with telemetry monitoring

Description :

The unit is a mixed acuity unit, including PCU, MS Tele, and medical surgical patients.

The position requires a minimum of one year of nursing experience.

Traveler nurses who are first timers are accepted.

Floating may be required to corresponding sister units.

Ratios are adjusted by patient acuity.

The typical patient ratio for days and weekends is 1 : 3-5 and 1 : 3-6 for nights.

Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.

The patient population includes surgical pre and post-operative patients, as well as overflow medical diagnosis patients.

Common diagnoses in the unit include ENT, general surgery, trauma surgery, and orthopedic surgery.

Special procedures preferred for this unit include TCAR.

Skills required include telemetry, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, and care for ventilated patients.

Experience in managing IV insulin protocols, central line care, blood product administration, and phlebotomy is necessary.

The charting system used is EPIC.

Isolation precautions and wound care are part of the expected competencies.

There may be rare pediatric patients, and travelers will not be assigned unless they have the required experience.

The unit offers interdisciplinary support from various healthcare services.
