Job Summary :
The Master Electrician is a highly skilled and licensed professional responsible for leading the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. This role involves supervising and training a team of electricians, ensuring all work complies with national and local electrical codes, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
Duties / Responsibilities :
Plan and design complex electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, to meet project specifications and client requirements
Oversee the installation of wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, panels, and other electrical components in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to integrate electrical systems into construction plans
Lead and train electricians, journeymen, and apprentices to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
Delegate tasks to team members, monitor their performance, and provide technical support when needed
Mentor less experienced electricians and apprentices, fostering their growth and development in the trade
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical problems in systems such as circuits, controls, motors, and transformers
Perform repairs on faulty or damaged electrical systems, ensuring functionality and safety
Respond to emergency calls and resolve urgent electrical issues efficiently
Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance and address any deficiencies noted during audits or reviews
Identify potential safety hazards and implement preventative measures to mitigate risks
Estimate project timelines, budgets, and material requirements for electrical work
Manage resources efficiently, including tools, equipment, and materials, to minimize waste and control costs
Coordinate with other trades (e.g., plumbing, HVAC, carpentry) to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into broader construction projects
Conduct routine maintenance of electrical systems to ensure ongoing reliability and efficiency
Recommend and implement upgrades or retrofits to improve system performance or meet updated codes and standards
Ensure all necessary permits and documentation are obtained for electrical work and inspections
Offer expert advice and recommendations on electrical solutions tailored to client requirements
Maintain a valid Master Electrician license and other required certifications
Serve as the primary point of contact for urgent electrical issues that require immediate attention

Education / Certifications / Licenses
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Certifications
OSHA 10 / OSHA 30 or ability to obtain
Licenses
Master Electrician License or in the window to take exam
Driver’s License required
General Contracting License is a plus
Experience
7-12 years of experience in the electrical trade, including a combination of journeyman-level work and supervisory or leadership roles
4-7 years of experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician
Experience in a wide range of electrical installations, maintenance, and repair projects across residential, commercial, and industrial settings
Hands-on work with power distribution, control systems, wiring, lighting, motors, and other electrical components
Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical issues, including diagnosing faults, interpreting schematics, and implementing solutions
2-5 years of experience supervising electricians, apprentices, or job site teams
Experience managing electrical aspects of construction projects, ensuring work aligns with specifications, schedules, and budgets
Familiarity with conducting inspections and addressing deficiencies to ensure projects pass regulatory audits
Experience with energy-efficient technologies, such as solar panels, LED lighting systems, and smart controls
Experience handling time-sensitive electrical emergencies, including power outages, equipment failures, or hazardous situations
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems under pressure and recommend cost-effective solutions
Experience managing budgets, materials, and labor for electrical projects to ensure cost-effectiveness and minimize delays
Experience maintaining detailed records of electrical work, including blueprints, permits, and safety reports
Demonstrated commitment to staying updated on advancements in electrical technology, tools, and code changes through continuing education or on-the-job training
Required Skills / Abilities
Comprehensive understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, wiring, lighting, transformers, circuit breakers, and control systems
Proficiency in designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to ensure proper system design and installation
Skilled in using advanced electrical tools and equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, voltage testers, and infrared thermography tools
Strong ability to supervise and mentor electricians, journeymen, and apprentices, delegating tasks effectively and ensuring high-quality work
Ability to resolve team disputes or challenges efficiently while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
Experience in coaching and mentoring less experienced electricians to help them improve their skills and advance in their careers
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical problems quickly and effectively
Ability to adapt to unforeseen challenges, such as changing project requirements or equipment failures, and develop appropriate solutions under pressure
Proficient in documenting electrical work, preparing project reports, and maintaining compliance records
Strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with clients, address their concerns, and provide expert recommendations
Ability to manage tools, materials, and labor efficiently to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Expertise in scheduling and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining work quality
Experience estimating project costs, managing budgets, and controlling expenditures to maximize profitability
Strong commitment to workplace safety, with the ability to enforce compliance with OSHA standards and implement safety protocols
Ability to identify and mitigate electrical hazards to ensure a safe working environment
Skilled in handling electrical emergencies, such as system failures or power outages, to minimize downtime and risks
Meticulous approach to ensuring the accuracy and quality of electrical work
Strong organizational skills for maintaining project documentation, compliance records, and inspection reports
Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend) and basic computer programs like Microsoft Office
Dependable and trustworthy, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality results
Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including lifting heavy equipment, working at heights, and in varying weather conditions

Working Environment
Work primarily in a commercial environment and outdoors for field repairs
May be exposed to noise, fumes, and varying temperatures
Overtime and weekend work may be required based on business needs
