Overview
Lead Mechanical Technician role at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics. GA-ASI is a world leader in remotely piloted aircraft, tactical reconnaissance radars, and high-resolution surveillance systems.
We are seeking a highly motivated Technician Team Leader to oversee and manage multiple production and depot work centers. This role requires a strong leader who thrives under tight deadlines, can troubleshoot complex systems, and ensures quality throughout the production process. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical expertise, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide clear direction and leadership to multiple technicians across different production cells.
- Lead and coordinate production and depot work to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues across several mechanical assembly part numbers and systems.
- Oversee PTP and ensure adherence to established processes.
- Oversee wiring and crimping procedures to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
- Take ownership of work orders and products from initiation to completion, ensuring on-time delivery and quality assurance.
- Maintain excellent communication across teams and departments to facilitate smooth operations and timely delivery.
- Prioritize the safety of shop floor employees and contribute to safety initiatives that improve both employee and product safety.
- Collaborate with technicians to develop and enhance stationary work instructions (SWIs).
- Maintain clear communication regarding positive and corrective disciplinary actions to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
- Provide clear feedback and direction regarding manufacturing performance and training.
- Work effectively with Leadership, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Control and other groups to effectively deliver products.
Job Qualifications
Typically requires associate's degree or equivalent with seven or more years of experience. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.Ability to read and interpret detailed instructions, drawings, and specifications.Strong knowledge of wiring and crimping procedures.Proven leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.Excellent problem-solving skills and technical expertise in troubleshooting systems.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster collaboration across departments.Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance required.Job Details
