Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced LDRP RN with at least 2 years of acute labor and delivery experience and a current ND or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an acute care hospital on a combined Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit
  • Unit includes 7 L&D beds, 8 postpartum beds, and 1 OR suite for C-sections
  • Patient population primarily includes obstetric, neonates, hypertension, and gestational diabetes cases
  • Average of 58 births per month
  • Charting is done using the Meditech EMR system and the traceview / PIP EFM system
  • Shifts are 12 hours, typically days with call and block scheduling; every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Floating required to MedSurg and ER units within skillset; permanent staff float first
  • Maroon scrubs are provided and must be changed into on the unit
  • Daily duties include reading fetal strips, titrating drips, and caring for both laboring and postpartum patients
  • Charge nurse is present and also takes a patient assignment on each shift
  • Support is provided by CNAs and surgical techs for vitals, paperwork, and transfers
  • Orientation consists of 3 unit-specific shifts
  • First time travelers are considered for this role
  • All requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved after submission
  • Requirements

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Minimum of 2 years' recent L&D or LDRP experience required
  • Current BLS certification and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring required
  • Ability to read and interpret fetal monitoring strips independently
  • Experience titrating drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium
  • Strong critical thinking and adaptability skills
  • Must provide two professional references : one supervisor within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
  • Must not have been employed by any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) in the last 12 months
  • Residency must be at least 50 miles from facility location
