Diesel Mechanic

Diesel and Gas Truck / Tractor and forklift mechanic providing maintenance for MEI fleet of Ford and Dodge service trucks (both gas and diesel 250 thru 450), forklifts (up to Versa Lift 100 / 1400k), various make / models of tractors and flatbed trailers including Landoll / KS RGN flatbed trailers.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

• The ideal candidate can do mid-level mechanic work on gas and diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
• Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.).
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; and completing as-needed procedures.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives, and adjusting controls and systems.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; and calling for extensive and complex repairs.
• Contains costs by using a warranty, evaluating service, and parts options.
• Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; and verifying receipts.
• Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Complete housekeeping duties in the assigned area or project area daily and / or when required.
• A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
• Complete required papers.
• Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
