GCU seeks a dynamic, forward thinking, and proven Director of Continuing Professional Education.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Professional Studies and Business Development, the Director of Continuing Professional Education will be responsible for developing and maintaining the daily operations for all Non-Credit, In-Demand Professional Certifications, and Contract Training units within the Center for Professional Education. Responsible for identifying and securing alternative revenue streams, this position will be a member of the Professional Studies and Business Development leadership team.
The Director manages all aspects of new business development and retention – including securing commitments for non-traditional education, professional development programs, and donor relations in support of the CPS Lifelong Learning Scholarship fund(s) – marketing and attracting new customers within our individual course catalog, professional certificates, for-credit certification programs, the CPSx programs, and the CEU provider programs.
Key success factors include developing, managing, and sustaining a robust portfolio of corporate training prospects and clients, including extensive engagement with local, state, and national chambers of commerce – and other affiliated business organizations, alliances, or agencies.
The Director is a seasoned, dynamic and forward-thinking higher education professional, who will work collaboratively with campus-wide student support and academic units (e.g. Mission, Alumni Engagement, Advancement, Business Office, Student Financial Services, Registrar, as well as Deans and other academic leaders across all GCU units) to support the needs of non-traditional students, as well as external organizations.
The position will also assist with a variety of ad-hoc projects and assignments - as needed in a fast-paced work environment. University service through committee and workgroup participation is expected with moderate to heavy local travel.

Essential Functions :
- Manages non-credit offerings offered through the Center for Professional Studies (CPS)
- Provides constant partner acquisition and stewardship for CPS and related alternative revenue-related activities, as prescribed by the Associate Vice President
- Coordinates communications with campus departments, high school partners and outside agencies as necessary
- Manages procurement and payment reconciliation for CPS / Community Partnership courses, Open Enrollment courses, and Customized Training courses; monitor expenditures, maintain all financial accounts and records. Projects and budgets for each corporate / business engagement event
- Develop marketing and promotional strategies for upcoming events and projects
- Researches grant opportunities and recommends to the Associate Vice President viable opportunities the institution should explore
- Ensures compliance with all reporting regarding local, state, and federal regulations
- Travels to event locations to manage event logistics
- Stands in for the Associate Vice President as requested
- Recruitment of instructors for the Center of Professional Studies and Continuing Education – to support external corporate and business development needs / requests
- Experience in contract development, negotiation, and execution
- Experience retrieving, interpreting, and analyzing budget, program, and assessment data
- Experience in marketing and public relations
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) as well as public speaking skills
- Ability to work well in an academic environment as well as in community-based service organizations
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to set priorities
- Ability to work independently with limited input from supervisor.
- Audit, review, and evaluate continuing education courses for program effectiveness.
Consistently monitors and revises the business development course offerings.
Perform additional duties as assigned consistent with the academic programs of the institution, including online and hybrid programming support.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Workforce Development, Accounting, Finance, Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred5-7 years of documented success in Non-Credit, Professional Studies, Business Development, and Donor Acquisition and Retention experience5-7 years of experience in accounting / fiscal managementProposal, Contract and / or Grant writing experience requiredSkilled in Office365 and CRM database management softwareExperience with web-based Continuing Education registration platformsSocial Media savvy : as relates to identifying and quantifying training / donor prospectsAbility to work well in an academic environment as well as in community-based service organizationsStrong organizational skills and the ability to set prioritiesValid Driver's LicenseMUST BE US WORK AUTHORIZED
